The La Crosse Office of Emergency Management and its consortium partners began contributing production information to the WIJIS Justice Gateway in July. For some recent press coverage of this milestone, visit the La Crosse Tribune; La Crosse's WKBT TV and Eau Claire's WEAU TV.
The contributing agencies included the La Crosse Sheriff's Department and police departments from the cities of La Crosse and Onalaska, the towns of Campbell and Shelby, and the villages of Bangor, Holmen, and West Salem. These agencies are contributing information about arrests, incidents, and contacts that occurred since November 1999.
The consortium was among the first 5 chosen to pilot the Gateway, joined by groups from FoxComm, Kenosha, Madison, and Stevens Point in this initial endeavor. The pilots worked closely with WIJIS since 2005 to help refine both technical and policy aspects of the system and were instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.
